When former Bush administration attorneys recommend harsh interrogation designed to avoid torture, it is still"torture" according to Justice. When deciding whether an alleged ex-Nazi will face torture in Germany if deported, the Justice Dept. says intent must be present to have torture, therefore Germany cannot torture.
Don Siegelman, Paul Minor, and their codefendants hardly stand alone as targets of a rampaging Bush Justice Department. But why have those two Deep South prosecutions stood out as examples of "justice" run amok?
Perhaps it's because the judges who presided over the cases clearly were in on the fixes.
While the rest of the world condemns Israel's inhumanity, the US Congress--I should say the US Knesset--rushed to endorse the Israeli slaughter of the Palestinians in Gaza. The US Senate endorsed Israel's massacre of Palestinians with a vote of 100-0. The US House of Representatives voted 430-5 to endorse Israel's massacre of Palestinians.
For the past 10 years, the "two-state solution" has been the mantra of the United States and most countries involved in bringing a lasting peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians. But now, Netanyahu is calling for what he says is a fresh approach to peace with the Palestinians.
